Located in the historic Silk Stocking District just blocks from the beach and minutes from the
Strand, this 1923 Mediterranean style Bed and Breakfast exhibits a comfortable elegance
throughout. Originally constructed for Henry Truehart Adriance, a partner in the first chartered
realty firm in Galveston, it continued as a private residence until 2002. It was then purchased
by Jim and Connie Porter for the purpose of converting it into an island retreat. Prior to
moving to Galveston, Jim and Connie were long-time residents of the South Pacific and this
influence can be seen throughout the house. The house sits on a third of an acre surrounded
by lush tropical foliage, making it an ideal setting for a romantic getaway or just a break from
the workaday world.
While Avenue O offers the amenities of a large hotel, it maintains the special ambiance and
personalized service of a home away from home. From the time you enter this unique and
warm Galveston Bed and Breakfast, you will experience the true meaning of Island
Hospitality.

The South Pacific Room:
This spacious room is the home’s signature accommodation, designed to transport you to
the islands of paradise. The King Size canopy bed, the beach umbrella shaded reclining
chair, the colorful dining alcove and the private balcony overlooking the grounds combine to
envelop you in the warmth of the islands. Art work the owners have collected from several
islands of the South Pacific adorn the walls and accent the playful, yet romantic, setting.

This visually stunning suite, located in the main house, provides a welcome retreat from the
stresses of everyday life. Enjoy the calming effects of a striking wall mounted aquarium while
relaxing in the truly unique and luxurious Jacuzzi for two appropriately named “The Whale”.
Warm, soothing and romantic; this suite offers all you need to experience a remarkable
rejuvenating stay.

Sunshine Room:
his bright and cozy room is available only as an additional accommodation for guests renting
the South Pacific Room and Rainforest Room. The room is furnished with a double bed
covered by an antique quilt hand made by the owner's grandmother. This room shares a
bathroom with either the South Pacific Room or Rainforest Room. This space is a perfect
option for parents traveling with a child or an individual accompanying a couple to enjoy a
private room for a very reasonable add-on rate.
Rate: $35.00 single
Safari Room:
Take a walk on the wild side with the fun and passion this room exudes. This fabric draped
room will envelop you in its warmth and special character. The Safari Room is detached from
the main house. Furnished with a queen bed, antique dressing table and numerous
interesting accent pieces, it will truly feed your adventurous soul.
