Clan Campbell Hotel ( Edinburgh, Scotland)
Situated just a short stroll from Princes Street and the Playhouse Theatre Edinburgh, the Clan
Campbell Hotel in Edinburgh provides a real taste of Scottish hospitality.

Whether you are visiting Edinburgh for the history, the culture or the shopping our central location
means that everything is within easy reach; from the Edinburgh Castle to the Royal Yacht Brittania,
art galleries to comedy clubs, Harvey Nichols to Jenners. Even getting here is easy as the train and
bus stations are in walking distance and the airport is just a short drive away.

In fact, we even offer an Edinburgh Airport Meet and Greet service so you don't have to queue, pay
waiting charges or worry about having the right change. Let us know your flight details and you will
be met by a driver with nameboard, escorted to a taxi and driven to the hotel. To take advantage of
this, just click on Airport Meet and Greet Service when booking your room and enter your flight
details in special requests.

Designed by William Playfair, the Clan Campbell occupies a quiet niche despite it’s proximity to the
city centre of Edinburgh. A Georgian townhouse with a private garden, it offers a real respite after a
hard day’s sight-seeing or shopping. Have a quiet drink in the residents bar or relax with a DVD in
your room. Free wireless connection is available in all our rooms and there is free internet access
in the bar for guests without their own computer.

Eating and drinking out around the Clan Campbell hotel is a delight, with a variety of bars,
restaurants and delicatessens to suit all tastes and budgets in the neighbourhood. Valvona and
Crolla is just round the corner. That’s if you’re still hungry after our fabulous full Scottish breakfast
(the haggis is a must!)

On street parking is available outside the hotel. Because of our proximity to the Edinburgh city
centre, this is operated on a pay and display basis between 8.30am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday.
Parking after 5.30pm until 8.30am and on Saturdays and Sundays is free. Please avoid parking in
the permit holder only bays. If you wish to leave your car parked outside the hotel, we will happily
ensure your pay and display ticket stays valid if you leave us your keys.

If you are looking to stay for four or more nights, please call us to discuss discounted rates for
longer stays.

With just 10 rooms, you can be assured of our attention at all times so join us for a good Scottish
welcome and comfortable, good value accommodation in Edinburgh.

About us:

Commissioned in 1824 and completed in 1836 by the renowned architect William Playfair, the
building highlights some of the finest features of the Georgian era, with its unique heavy front
Portico facade flanked by Doric columns. The building previously served as The Black Watch club,
for veterans of one of the oldest kilted highland regiments, dating back to 1725. Many original
features have been maintained within the hotel. Ornate cornice work, high ceilings with central
roses and our illuminating cupola over the staircase with its original balustrade.

History of the Clan Campbell
Campbell, one of the most eminent and influential highland clans in the history of Scotland, draws
its origins in the mists of antiquity, being prominent even in the earliest Scottish kingdom, Dalriada.
The Clan is also known as Clan Diarmid, after the Ossianic hero from whom the Clan is
descended. According to tradition, Diarmid died from an injury received after slaying a fierce wild
boar. The Campbell Clan crest is a boar's head, the motto is Ne Oblivicaris - "Forget Not" and the
warcry or rallying cry in battle is "Cruachan", from a prominent mountain and landmark on their
lands beside Loch Awe. The name Campbell arose in the thirteenth century when Duncan
MacDuibhne the Clan Chief at the original stronghold in Lochawe, Argyll, held the Gaelic nickname
of Cam Beul, meaning "crooked mouth", and his descendants maintained this from then on as
their Clan name.
