The Cheapest Bed and Breakfast (B&B) Guide
The Cheapest Bed and Breakfast (B&B) Guide
We built Bent Creek Lodge in 1999 with timbers cut from this incredible setting to offer Asheville
visitors a retreat similar to the warm, rustic lodges we visited in the west. Nestled in a forested
triangle between the Blue Ridge Parkway and the  French Broad River , the lodge is only 10 miles
from the center of Asheville, yet feels like a remote mountain get-a-way. You turn in our drive down
by the river and as you wind past the hillside of rhododendron and mountain laurel, there is a good
chance you'll see deer or wild turkeys. Once you are here enjoy a stroll through the gardens, hike the
trails that start along our creek, sit back on the spacious decks and porches to watch the birds or
cuddle up with a book by the great room's fireplace. Whatever you choose, it will be a rejuvenating
escape from the typical hurried lives left behind.

Specialties that set Bent Creek Lodge apart:

* An incredible mountain setting
* Delicious, creative breakfast served at individual tables each morning
* A bar opening to the kitchen where you can sit and watch breakfast prepared and tell us about your
adventures
* A full size pool table and Alvarez guitar in the great room for you to play
* Private hiking trails through our woods and community
* Our little dogs Loe-D and Leona to greet you and lead you on walks
* A tin roofed front porch, two spacious rear decks and an upper balcony to view the surrounding
mountains and forest

Five Rooms Upstairs:

The Wildflower Room - $185.00

This is one of our most romantic rooms.  It is on the east end of the second floor and has a back
door to the upstairs balcony and mountain views beyond.  It features a queen size bed that Doug
made from locust logs cut from the property.   It is decorated with photos, etchings and pottery of
local wildflowers, many of which can be found blooming around the lodge. Snuggle into the
sensually soft sheets, look around and you feel like you are surrounded by the forest and flowers.  In
the extra large bath it has a luxurious two person whirlpool tub, with a shower.

Outer Banks - $135.00

You almost smell the salt water as you enter the Outer Banks Room. The shells, weathered wood,
& pictures give this room an authentic feel of the North Carolina coast. It has an antique, wrought
iron, full size bed. The ceramic tile bath with a combination tub & shower has a large, custom vanity
for all you bath items.  It has a back door to the upstairs balcony and mountain views beyond and is
adjacent to the Wildflower room and the Bird Room.

The Bird Room - $145.00

The Bird Room was inspired by our many feathered friends that nest on the property and visit our
feeder.  It is filled with houses and photos of our native birds with binocs close by. It has a back door
to the upstairs balcony, where you can view the birds at the feeders in the gardens below as well as
the mountains beyond. It has a queen size bed, ceramic tile bath, and combination tub & shower.  It
is adjacent to the Outer Banks Room and the Bike Room.

The Bike Room - $145.00

This cheerful room with the old timey, big wheel bike art, the side table of old suitcases, and the
antique bike poster reminds you of simpler times and simpler bikes.  It has a back door to the 2nd
floor balcony for long range views. The black, queen size, iron bed with all the tasteful black accents
gives the room an air of sophistication.  Closely check out the quilt hanging on the wall, it even has
little bike patterns, what a find.   The ceramic tile bath has a combination tub & shower. It is adjacent
to the Water Room and the Bird Room.

The Water Room - $160.00

The Water Room was inspired by the waterfalls, rivers and streams we’ve loved in this area.  The
blue accent wall behind the Heart Pine trestle bed makes you feel like you are resting beside the
water after a day of fishing or canoeing.  Write in your journal or check email at the warm, pine desk.
It is on the west end of the second floor and has a private entrance to the upstairs balcony and
mountain views beyond.  The spacious, glass enclosed shower in the large, airy bath gives you the
feel of bathing in a warm waterfall.   It is adjacent to the Bike Room

The Barn Room - $160.00

The Barn Room is certainly not an out post, it just has a bit of the rustic feel of the handsome old N.
C. barns. The rustic feel is seen in  the queen size, Heart Pine bed, reminiscent of trusses in an old
tobacco barn; the rough sawn pine wainscoting; and art work of family farm life. The vaulted ceiling,
large windows, lavish bath and whirlpool tub make this bedroom and bath feel especially spacious.
It is on the main floor and can be reached with no steps involved at all.  It is handicap accessible
with grab bars, 36” wide bath door, additional hand held shower and ADA sink.  Adjacent to the great
room with no room above it.

The Fern Room - $185.00

Jodee’s favorite room, the walls and accents in soft, soothing greens, give the Fern Room the feel of
a lush, forest glen.  Get lost in the luxurious king size bed. The spacious bath has an oversized, two
person jetted tub. The back door opens to the large, covered deck overlooking the garden with
swings and rockers.  It is adjacent to the downstairs sitting room on the west end of the lodge.

The Mountain Room - $160.00

The traditional quilts and memorabilia bring to mind the rich heritage of Appalachia.   The back door
opens to the large, covered deck overlooking the garden with swings and rockers.  The king size
bed can also be set up as two twin beds when needed.  The bath has a large soaking tub with a
shower.  It is adjacent to the downstairs sitting room and the Tree Room.

The Tree Room - $145.00

The Tree Room captures the feel of the forest with its soft mocha colors and beautiful queen bed
made of cherry branches. The back door opens to the spacious lower covered, deck with swings,
rockers and views of the forest. It has a slate tile bath with a combination tub & shower.  It is
adjacent to the Mountain and Cherokee rooms.

The Cherokee Room - $145.00

From the colorful woven blanket to the arrowhead collection, this room honors the noble tribe that
roamed these mountains before us. It has a rustic, pine log, queen size bed, slate tile bath with a
combination tub & shower. The back door opens to the spacious lower covered, deck with swings,
rockers and views of the forest.  It is adjacent to the Tree Room.

The Luhn House - $350.00/night, 2 night minimum(Lodge Specials do not apply)

We manage the Luhn House for our good friend Marcia Luhn from Melbourne, Fl.  It sits on a
beautiful 10 acre, wooded lot with its own small water fall, adjacent to our property.  The three
bedroom, two and a half bath house is about 300 yards up the road from the Lodge.  The main level
includes; a fully equipped kitchen with a mahogany, hand carved bar, a great room with  massive
stone fireplace and a futon that can be used for sleeping, a dining area, a laundry and a half bath.
The master suite is upstairs and includes a unique queen size, log bed with a large walk in shower
in the bath.  Downstairs includes a bed room with a queen size bed and one with two twin beds, a
large bath with a tub & shower combination.   On the deck is a 4 person hot tub and a gas grill.  The
