The historical Street-Ward residence, circa 1882, is home to a premiere New Bern, North Carolina

The Carolina Suite shares its name historically with the colony named after its sovereign King
Charles II (his Latin name "Carolus") but also after the Street-Ward home’s matriarch Carolina
Ward. Originally the home's dining room, this spacious, ground floor suite features a king bed and
sitting area with two wingback chairs in an alcove of bay windows overlooking the Attmore-Oliver
House Museum. Room highlights include an ornate fireplace mantle, antique 19th century amoire
and a comfortable wingback chair at the fireplace. A Whirlpool bath and shower in the bathroom's
tiled enclosure invites you to luxury and romance in this large, elegant bedchamber.

The Hidden Room
(King Bed/Private Bath with tub & shower - $159.00)
The Hidden Room offers secluded quarters with a private entrance just off the upstairs deck. The
Williamsburg blue and ivory toile drapery reflect the Inn's colonial heritage while the romantically
swagged four-post canopy bed and period furniture allow guests the opportunity to be part of a
tranquil bed and breakfast experience with a little extra intimacy. Private bath with a combination
bathtub and shower.

The Tuscarora Suite

The Tuscarora Suite is named in recognition the ancestral native people who inhabited the
peninsula, which later became New Bern. One of the home's three original upstairs bedrooms, this
guest suite features an antique, Austrian king-sized bed, wide-planked wooden floors and elegant
Oriental rug. A spacious sitting area centered around the room's Sheridan settee, matching Late
Victorian chairs, Empire marble topped coffee table and the decorative fireplace heightens the
ambiance of the Tuscarora Suite. A wonderfully deep two person sized Whirlpool bath with shower
make for a perfectly elegant and romantic suite.

The Kennebec Room

The Kennebec Room was one of the three original upstairs bedrooms in the home. It is named
after the current innkeepers' first bed and breakfast in Long Beach, California, which housed the
stunningly carved four-post king, laced canopy bed now in this room. The antique Empire walnut
chest was an heirloom piece from the Ward family and beautifully complements the bed. The
handsome, bright and airy three-sided bay window beckons you to sit, relax, and enjoy your step
back into the elegance, charm and romance of the late nineteenth century. Private bath with a jetted
whirlpool bathtub and shower.

The Magnolia Suite
(Queen Bed/Private Bath with Two Person Sized Corner Whirlpool - $169.00)
The Magnolia Room with its massive Magnolia tree outside the window pays tribute to the beautiful
white blossoms that embody North Carolina's southern traditions of grace and sophistication. The
Magnolia Suite is one of the original upstairs bedrooms of the home. The second story of the front
porch, which was enclosed years ago, now houses the romantic corner two person sized Whirlpool
bath with hand-held shower in a bathroom that will truly pamper you. An ornate, four-post, canopy
queen bed, antique Victorian settee,comfortable sitting area with two wingback chairs and mirrored
artwork by the owner Marty, make The Magnolia Suite uniquely special. Perhaps the most romantic
and impressive of all our bedchambers!!

The Basin Street Room
(Queen Bed/Private Bath with multi-jetted walk-in shower - $119.00)
Basin Street RoomThe Basin Street Room. When Samuel Street built his home c. 1882, this cozy
room was the upstairs bath, kept comfortable by the fireplace, decoratively in place today. The name
refers to the room's original purpose (Basin) and owner (Street) and also to New Orleans' famed
promenade where the current innkeepers enjoyed their honeymoon. Stylish artwork depicting the
French Quarter lends sophisticated charm to this quaint room with a pencil-post queen bed. The
private bath with a walk-in shower features a shower tower with six body jets, rain forest shower
head and a hand-held shower...no bathtub in Basin Street, but who needs one with luxury like this?

The Duck Inn Room
(Queen Bed/Private Bath with soaking tub & shower - $119.00)
The Duck Inn Room, was the room of Mary Ward whose family purchased the residence from
Samuel Street in 1900. Mary Ward (1891-1979) lived in the home her entire life and during her later
years, she divided the house into several apartments, renting them out during World War II. In fact,
the current door to the room was once a closet and now guests over six foot may need to 'duck' their
heads to enter a room with an eleven foot ceiling! Tasteful appointments and refined decorative
treatments make this quaint, warm-hued room one of our most popular. A smaller room, but
delightful in every way. Private bath, of course, with a cast iron tub ideal for a long soak and a great
