Colonial Homestay Bed and Breakfast ( Tairua, Coromandel, NEW ZEALAND )
Would you like to stay in a quiet location on the Coromandel Peninsula overlooking
beautiful views of the ocean and islands with friendly hosts who will look after all your
needs?

If your answer is "Yes", then Colonial Homestay, a 4-star Plus Qualmark rated Bed and
Breakfast accommodation, is the place for you.

The house boasts charming colonial architecture including an elevator with access to all

The rugged hills are covered in native rainforest and more than 400 kilometers of
beautiful coastline promises you can find the beach of your dreams.

Here the bush and beaches are easily accessible.

In one day, you can experience the blue dazzle of the Pacific Ocean, the calming
greenness of a great Kauri forest or dig your own thermal pool at Hot Water Beach.

Bob & Jenny were finalists in the 2008 AA Spirit of Hospitality awards and were especially

Your Hosts

Jenny and BobJenny and Bob are recognised for their hospitality and welcome guests to
share their home.
Jenny was brought up in Adelaide, South Australia and is now proud to be a New
Zealand citizen.
She worked as a Company Secretary and after her children were grown, was appointed
as a School Secretary and worked for 10 years in this role.
She trained as a classical pianist, was a State Netball representative, played tennis and
in later years won many A grade titles in Lawn bowls.
Bob was born in Hamilton, New Zealand and was educated in Cambridge. He trained
there as a joiner, but shifted to Queensland, Australia in 1968 and spent 27 years there
before returning to his homeland.
Past interests include rugby, swimming, hiking, shooting, hunting and golf; however at 49
years old, a change of lifestyle saw him train as a scuba-diving instructor.
In 1987, he met his future wife, Jen and they became a team, working a dive shop and
boat.
This led on to establishing an underwater video business, filming tourists doing one-off
dives off a large Barrier Reef boat.
After 10 years of this, they built a house at Ohope, New Zealand and shifted back
permanently.
Since shifting to Tairua in 2002, her interests have been reading, fishing, bridge,
gardening design and learning computer skills.
On the local scene, she was President of the local Contract Bridge club for 2 years, a
volunteer and committee member of the Information Centre for 4 years, a helper at the
Care & Friendship club looking after the elderly and Secretary/Treasurer of the @home
NEW ZEALAND association for the Coromandel Peninsula.

She has certificates in Safe Food Handling, First Aid and is very proud that Colonial
Homestay was a runner-up in the AA Spirit of Hospitality Award for 2008, an award voted
for by guests.

Operating their Colonial Homestay has given both Bob and Jenny much pleasure and
satisfaction to meet new people and make new friends.

Bob & Jenny were finalists in the 2008 AA Spirit of Hospitality awards and were especially
pleased to be awarded the runners-up. With entries from both North & South Islands,
