Your Big Island Hawaii Vacation

Hale Ho’ola means the “House of Healing” in the native Hawaiian language. The tropical
gardens that surround the house provide a luscious environment and calming effect for
our guests.  You will realize why the Big Island is also known as “Orchid Island.”  The
spacious rooms and private lanais provide serenity after your days of exploration.  On the
other hand, if you are not sure what to do on the Big Island, Bob and Mary can give you
some ideas or you can find them on our Big Island Vacation activities page. Explore the
rich heritage and history for which the Hawaii is known, and then unwind at our
comfortable bed and breakfast inn.

Big Island Hawaii Variety

Located just south of Kona Hawaii, Captain Cook boasts country living with famous
historic sites, like Captain Cook’s Monument, Place of Refuge and Painted Church. The
Big Island Hawaii boasts having 11 of the 13 climates of the world on one island. If the
Volcano National Park or Kealakekua Bay are not on your list, they should be.  Swim with
dolphins, enjoy amazing snorkeling, hike to the Captain Cook Monument, horseback ride
on several trails, stargaze from the top of a 13,000 foot mountain, relax on of of the many
gorgeous beaches or enjoy the amazing wonders of Volcano National Park.  All are
close to our Big Island bed and breakfast.

Captain Cook and Kona Hawaii Visitors

Beyond the famous Kona Hawaii coffee, Kailua Kona is home to the annual Ironman
triathlon, normally held in October. Rich history, including King Kamehameha’s hut,
provides great historical value and reflects the rich Hawaii Big Island culture. The King
Kamehameha luau in Kona celebrates food, dance and the culture of the Pacific
Polynesia and New Zealand, with the rich traditions of the celebration. Shopping,
farmers markets underwater adventures -- including scuba diving, snorkeling, glass
bottom boats and submarine adventures -- add to the attraction and activities available in
Kona Hawaii.

Hawaii Volcano National Park

The Big Island keeps growing every year, thanks to the active volcanoes on the island.
Volcanoes National Park is home to many active volcano sites, which continually flow
into the ocean, cool and become hardened lava, thus expanding the size of the island.
Read more about Volcano National Park and how it may fit with your Big Island vacation
plans from our bed and breakfast.

The North Coast

While the south end of the Big Island of Hawaii is mostly rocky from the hardened
volcanic lava, the North end of the Big Island is a lush, tropical paradise. The drive up the
coast from our bed and breakfast gives you a flavor of the diversity of the Island on your
vacation. Luscious landscapes come up on you in Waipio Valley - Hawaiian Valley of the
Kings, which lives up to its name. Trail heads for hiking to amazing, lush waterfalls and
incredible views of the Big Island are well worth the drive.
