The stewardship of Tudor House B&B was handed over to us, Bob & Sheila, on 11th September
2009. A year on and we can honestly say it has been all we had hoped for - and more, and what
makes it all the more pleasing are all the nice things that our guests and new friends have been
saying about us.
"Excellent, we feel we have made new friends. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to friends and
family - in fact already have!" Malcolm - Active Hotels review
"Bob and Sheila were fantastic hosts, and they definitely make you feel at home." Erica - Booking.
com review
"We have visited many b&bs and this was the best breakfast ever." Brian - Laterooms.com review
"Everything was either as good as we expected it or better: the location, the room, the service."
Asker, Norway - Trip Advisor review
All of these comments are in the public domain, we couldn't make them up! We would like to thank
everyone of the guests that have come to stay with us and making the last year such an enjoyable
and rewarding one. We look forward to seeing you all again soon, and of course those of you who
will visit us for the first time in the not too distant future - we hope!
About Tudor House, Past and Present. . .
A warm welcome from Bob & Sheila Marchant, the proprietors of Tudor House.
We look forward to welcoming you to the most unique B&B / Guest House accommodation in The
Yorkshire Dales.
We are quickly developing a reputation for the warmest of welcomes and are making Tudor House
a real “home from home” in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
No stone is left unturned in trying to help our guests make the most of their stay with us and visitors
from 0 to 99 are made to feel "at home". If you want somewhere special to celebrate your 100th
birthday we would be happy to help with that too!!
In addition, the building itself is completely unique and in the words of one seasoned B&B visitor is;
"..without doubt this is the most amazing location for a guest house I have ever seen in 20 years".

4 of our rooms have undergone the 'Sheila' treatment with an extensive make over including the
installation of flat screen TV’s with built in DVD players. The other two will receive even more
extensive upgrades in the autumn.
With 3 double rooms (one of which is on the ground floor and "pet friendly"), a twin, a single and a
fabulous family 'suite' we have rooms to cater for all needs.
Our breakfasts offer the widest range of fresh locally produced products and few guests leave
without praising "The Full Monty"
Bell Busk is a tiny hamlet only 4 miles from Malham and less than a mile from the A65, midway
between Skipton & Settle, so making a perfect base for exploring all of the attractions the Yorkshire
Dales have to offer.
On top of all of that, we are on the world famous Skipton – Settle – Carlisle railway, being the old
railway station for the village of Malham.
Tudor House dates from 1849. It was built as Bell Busk Station, to service the village of Malham, by
the North Western Railway Company (a.k.a. “Little North Western”), which was soon to be
amalgamated with The Midland Railway. The line was originally the Leeds to Morecambe route, but
by 1876 the now famous Settle to Carlisle line was completed and became part of the main west
coast route between London & Scotland. The station was closed on 4th May 1959.
The property first became a B&B/Guesthouse during the 1970’s, and nowadays offers a unique
experience combining comfort, hospitality and a fascinating piece of local history. We will
endeavour to build on the reputation developed by previous owners and expand and extend the
range and level of experiences our guests can enjoy. Apart from the bedrooms we have a
comfortable dining area and a relaxing sunroom overlooking the railway line.
The unique residents lounge, fashioned from the original station Waiting Room, has a TV,
radio/CD/MP3 and warming log-burning stove to ensure a cosy atmosphere. Over an acre or well-
kept gardens is the ideal environment for a relaxed day reading a book or chilling out after a hard
days walking, sightseeing, cycling, pony trekking, shopping, bird watching or any of the other great
variety of things to do locally.
Rooms. . .
We have 6 bedrooms of differing configurations and aspects, so we are sure we will have
something for most needs.
Our Family 'suite', Airedale, with en-suite shower facilities can accommodate up to 5 guests. It is
two rooms knocked into one and offers a double bed, bunk beds and the facility for a temporary bed
if required. It also has a second hand basin and 2 TV's, one with DVD. It the ideal answer for the
family who like to be together but where mum & dad like a little private space as well. It has just be
completely remodelled & redecorated under the guidance of Sheila.
We have 3 double rooms, all with en-suite facilities,
Wharfedale is on the ground floor with easy access. This has a full bathroom, a separate dressing
area and is also our 'pet friendly' room. This is another room to benefit from the attention of Sheila
and her decorators recently, complete with flat screen TV/DVD player and is of course very popular
with our guest who find climbing the stairs too much bother.
Swaledale is the third room to have undergone the 'Sheila treatment', which makes the great views
across Malhamdale & the National Park an even more peaceful and enjoyable experience. Again
the room has flat screen TV/DVD and en-suite shower facilities.
Malhamdale, like Swaledale, looks out from the front of the house with views into the National Park
and is one of our most popular rooms. En-suite shower facilities along with the usual tea & coffee
making facilities make this a very comfortable room.
Our twin room, Wensleydale, with en-suite shower facilities is a real favourite with our train
enthusiast guest as it looks onto the famous Skipton – Settle-Carlisle line and you get the best view
in town when the steam engines come past on their frequent excursions.
Our single room, Littondale, has private use of WC & shower facilities just across the corridor and
with a similar outlook to Wensleydale it is again popular with train enthusiasts..
All bedrooms have tea/coffee making facilities, colour TV (some with DVD) and hairdryer.
The dining room is on the ground floor adjoining the sunroom packed with books, games and
things to amuse.
The residents' lounge is a fantastic airy room with large south facing windows looking onto the old
platform area and a log burning stove to keep out the winter chill.
