Cycle-Inn Bed & Breakfast ( Victoria, BC )
Treat yourself to a retreat on beautiful Glen Lake near Victoria, BC, Canada. Wake up to fresh
baked muffins, local fruits and gorgeous views of the lake with Bear Mountain as the backdrop.
The House
A custom built house bordering the Galloping Goose Trail and
overlooking Glen Lake, offers a wide spectrum of activities all year round. Just 20 minutes from
the center of town, this serene country setting is convenient and welcoming to guests of all
ages. Aromas of delicious home cooked breakfasts rouse you in the mornings, and beautiful
views beckon to you as you rise to greet each day.
The Food
For breakfast each day we serve a salad of fresh fruit, many of which are picked daily from the
trees and bushes onsite. We also serve yoghurt, cereal, tea or coffee and of course Joanne's
famous home baked muffins. Guests generally eat at the main table. However, weather
permitting there are also tables on the deck so guests can enjoy their breakfast outside.
The Lake
Glen lake is a great freshwater swimming area for at least 4 months of the year. It is stocked
with 2 kinds of trout so if inclined you can try your luck at fishing.
For the nature lovers we have a local grey heron, a family of otter, at least one mink, a family of
ducks, and a Canada goose family including last year's goslings who swim nearby. There are
kingfishers, owls, bats, and bald headed eagles, and to those who observe well, there is drama
on the lake most days.
The Fun
We have a paddle boat which is easy to operate, bikes, and regularly engage in games such as
bocce ball, and croquet for group activities. We also have a big rope swing for tossing yourself
out into the water on those hot summer days (to be used with parental guidance only please).
We also have bicycles of various sizes for use on the bike trail just outside.
We have a dog named Adrienne, 2 cats, Princess and her shy son Dove, and a rabbit named
Molly even though he’s a boy, who all live outside. Barbara, our resident granny has a Cockatiel
named Oscar, but more commonly known as Beautiful Bird. Beautiful Bird stays inside.
The Environment
Ecological responsibility is one of our guiding principles. We dry our linens outside whenever
possible, and wash them only when the guests request a change, and at the completion of the
visit. We use earth-friendly cleaners, and strive for local fruits and produce. Our recent home
renovation include many energy-saving features and sustainable materials.
