Victoria bed and breakfasts offer a kaleidoscope of choice. Within that spectrum, Arbutus Hill
Bed and Breakfast offers:

*the traditional sense of a 'bed and breakfast' - a healthy, hearty, hot, home-cooked breakfast,
and warm and helpful hospitality,
*an economical, yet more personal, alternative to large-scale lodgings,
*a location that is quiet and scenic, yet within easy reach of all that Victoria has to offer.
Arbutus Hill Bed and Breakfast is located on five acres atop a wooded hill on the outskirts of
urban Victoria. On a clear day, Mount Baker is visible to the east, rising above the hills of
Cordova Bay and the San Juan Islands. Our bed and breakfast is located about midway
between downtown Victoria and Butchart Gardens: 8 km from downtown, 5 km from the
gardens in Brentwood Bay. We are located about 30 km (30 minutes drive) from Swartz Bay
Ferry terminal north of Victoria. There is no public transportation close to our B&B. (See our

Arbutus Hill Bed and Breakfast uses environmentally friendly, biodegradable products for
cleaning and bathroom supplies. Laundry detergents for our linens and towels are non-toxic
and free of dyes and perfumes. As well, our breakfasts are made from mostly organic, farm-
fresh local ingredients to reduce our carbon footprint.
Arbutus Hill Bed and Breakfast can be your headquarters for your Vancouver Island
explorations. There are many fine restaurants closeby, pleasant walks in the neighborhood
and hiking in scenic parks that dot the Victoria region. (Check our neighbourhood page)
Whether you want to explore the many beaches, have a round of golf, tour the Gulf Islands,
charter a boat for whale watching, fishing or diving, or go kayaking or mountain biking, Arbutus
Hill Bed and Breakfast can help you find them and even make the reservations. Whether you
want to savour Victoria's world-famous attractions or prefer a road less-travelled, we will help
you get the most from your Vancouver Island stay. Arbutus Hill Bed and Breakfast is
conveniently located to Camosun College's Interurban Campus, the Pacific Sports Institute for
Excellence, the Vancouver Island Technology Park, the Saanich Commonwealth Pool and the
Victoria City Rowing Club.
Rooms:
We have three guest bedrooms with queen-sized beds. Our bedrooms are all about 130
square feet (12 square metres) in size. You can also relax in our living room or the loft on the
upper level.
Rate: $90 Cdn per night plus 12% sales tax (HST).
Rates are for two persons. Rooms 2 and 3 can also sleep an accompanying adolescent on a
futon for $20 extra/night.
Children 8 years and older welcome.
No pets.
Smoking only outside on the deck.
Weekly rates available.
Check in: 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Check out: 11 a.m.
High-speed internet WIFI access is available at no charge.
Main bathroom on the upper level has two wash basins, a shower and tub (visible above in the
mirror). This bathroom is shared by Rooms 2 and 3 which is ideal for couples travelling
together or if you don't mind sharing the bathroom with other visitors. Both bathrooms are
equipped with hair dryers.
(We don't require strangers to share a bathroom. If you request a private bathroom and Room
1 is already booked, we'll reserve Room 2 for you and forego booking visitors into Room 3. But
you must request this when booking and the cost is then $110 per night. If the main bathroom
is shared, the price for Rooms 2 and 3 is $80 per night per room.)
Cancellation policy:
No charge if a reservation is cancelled 5 days or more prior to the reservation date or if we are
able to rent the room to other guests.
Reservations must be cancelled by email or by fax. If you have to cancel, we appreciate you
letting us know as soon as you know. Thanks.
Breakfast:
We bake our own whole wheat bread and make our own granola (almost all ingredients for
both are organic and we grind our own organic wheat). The eggs we serve are always free-
range. We are also able to make a tasty breakfast for vegetarians, vegans and others with
specialized dietary needs (e.g., gluten-free).
For every breakfast, fruit, fruit juice, muffins, toast, granola, cereals, yogurt, home-made jams,
honey, peanut butter and tea or coffee are available.
In addition, we serve a cooked breakfast dish, for example, pancakes, Eggs Arbutus (right),
French toast, frittata (lower right), or eggs with bacon or sausage.
Your hosts are 'Food-Safe' trained and restaurant-experienced.
Our environment:
Arbutus Hill Bed and Breakfast is named for the many arbutus trees that are prominent on the
house site. Enjoy our woodland garden. No pesticides or synthetic fertilizers are used in our
garden. In spring, the house is surrounded by a succession of wildflowers - sisyrinchium,
dodecatheon, erythronium and camassia - among our own daffodils and rhododendrons. At
Arbutus Hill Bed and Breakfast, we grow lots of hellebores, a popular perennial. The blooms
are in a tray in the photo below.
Arbutus Hill Bed and Breakfast is located in a prime bird-watching area and is near to many
other well-known bird-watching areas of the Saanich Peninsula such as Viaduct Flats. (See
