Our pondhouse is a part of an ancient farm of the 17th century very idyllic with a wonderful view
over the rolling hills and the silhouette of the spire of the village church on the horizon. The situation
is in between the borders to Germany and the Netherlands. The point of the three borders is very
near (6 km).
To the holiday home belongs a large, calm and completely fenced garden with a small playground
for children: swing, slide, sandbox, basketball basket, net for volleyball and badminton and a
rocking horse on a spring. The paved pathway and a small asphalted square make it possible for
the children to use skateboards or roller skates. As we have 4 children who are almost grown up
now, we still own a lot of outdoor material. According to the age of your children we can lend you a
playtractor, a tricycle, a bobbycar or other toys. On the glass covered terrace, you will find nice
teak-furniture and a barbecue. In addition, you dispose of a totally fenced natural pond, where you
can have a pick nick.
The pondhouse is completely furnished in ancient and luxurious style. All rooms dispose of
floorheating.
The living room has an open fire place, telephone, television, satellite, HD Flatscreen, blueray, dvd,
video, radio and cd-player. The sofa can be converted into a double bed (1,40). Free WIFI.
The open kitchen is fully equipped. There you will find: fridge, freezer, electric fan oven, microwave
with grill, gas cooking plates, dish washer, water heater, toaster, SENSEO machine and mixer.
There are six wooden chairs, a wooden table and a children's chair.
You dispose of two sleeping rooms. Both of them contain a single bed and a double bed (1,40 m).
There is a play pen for smaller children.
The bathroom contains a bathtub with possibility to take a shower, placard, toilet and washing
machine.
You have the option to rent a second bathroom with whirlpool and sauna.
In the vicinity, you will find many signposted trekking paths alongside meadows, hills, streams and
little castles. Moreover, some beautiful and attractive historic towns are in the surroundings:
Aachen, Kornelimünster, Vaals, Valkenburg, Gulpen, Maastricht, Verviers, Blegny (mine museum),
Liege. To go to Spa (racing course), Malmedy, Monschau, the Hohes Venn (interesting high
more) you need an hour car driving. Cologne, Brussels, Trier (river Moselle), Coblence (river
Rhine), Luxemburg and the Nürburgring (racing course) are easily reached within 1,5 to 2 hours
driving.
There are plenty of possibilities to practice sport: 3 golf courses, fishing ponds, tennis court and
tropical swimming pool (indoor and outdoor) and riding schools.
If you get hungry you have a huge choice of excellent restaurants ranging from a French fry stand
(true Belgian French fries made of really fresh potatoes delicious) up to a 2 Michelin star gourmet
temple. In our village, there are a nicely furnished auberge Le Cochon Embouteillé and a real
mini brewery with restaurant Au Grain dOrge. In the little town of Aubel near our village, you will
find a cider factory, a factory of apple syrup and two interesting weekly markets (Tuesday and
Sunday).
Children will be fond of the small zoo in Aachen, the chidrens farm in the Netherlands, the Safari
park and play grounds in Ayewaille, the grots of Remouchamps and the mine museum in Blegny.
When you arrive on our property after a tiring journey, we will offer you tea, coffe and cokies as well
as cold drinks, beer and wine.

We would be very happy to have you with us in our nice and cosy holiday home.
CURRENT HINTS
During the cold season, the house is very cosy and warm because of its floor heating. Later, you
can enjoy the very first warm sunlight of spring under the glass covered terrace.
Garden and landscape are very beautiful. In spring, the lively colours of many daffodils and tulips
contrast with the fresh green of the rolling hills. The fruit trees that are planted around the pond start
to blossom magnificently in April.
You will find a variety of signposted trekking paths; especially walks over meadows with wild
daffodils. A bit later, end of April or begin of may, the meadows get yellow because of millions of
dandy lion flowers the very best season for walking across meadows, hills and streams with
magnificent views over the landscape of our wonderful region called: Pays de Herve.
There is a natural reserve near Plombières at a stream called Gueule with a very unique flora
called GALMEI that is present because of the remains of ancient lead-mines.
