The Castle of Rothenthurn occupies a
prominent position on the green, southern
slopes above the village of Rothenthurn in
the Drau valley. The building, which includes
a small and beautiful private chapel, is
notable for its picturesque skyline and
romantic setting. The castle, as one sees it
today, was mainly constructed in the 17th
and 18th centuries, although its foundation
and rich history go back as far as the 11th.
