Reserve a room at one of the best, new places to stay in Southern Arizona! Opened in March,
2010, this unique Tucson Inn offers luxury defined by Arizona’s rich western heritage. Go
back in time as you enter the historic 1950’s Ranch House and estate built by Merle Norman.
Carved wood beams overhead in every room, rope trim, and hand-hewn local rock fireplaces
make this Tucson Bed and Breakfast a vintage western experience. Relax under deep
shaded porches or enjoy breakfast in the spacious breezeway beneath a long mission tile
roof with views of the Catalina Mountains. Stroll the paths to the large swimming pool directly
from your room, soak in the whirlpool as you watch the moon rise or challenge a companion
to a game of table tennis.
Innkeeper:
Pattie Bell brings 35 years of hospitality experience to El Rancho Merlita, twenty of them
managing Bed and Breakfast Inns in Arizona. Her freshly prepared breakfasts will knock your
boots off, with special needs graciously accommodated.
Amenities:
Greet the day with a private or group yoga session, a short stroll away through our desert
meditation gardens. A soothing massage melts away tension after a bike ride up the Catalina
Scenic Byway in our private massage therapy studio. Stargaze from our dedicated patio
through a Mead telescope. Grab a book or a movie from our extensive Western collection.
Cuddle up in our soft Egyptian cotten sheets and luxurious Museum of New Mexico Collection
bedding couture. Make sure you check out this Tucson Gem’s many complimentary in-room
amenities.
Rooms:
This was Merle Norman’s private suite. The original rock wall with fireplace and wood beam
ceiling are beautifully preserved. Custom Monterrey furniture, sumptuous historic-patterned
woven fabrics, and unique modern rugs create a refreshing Western decor. The vintage
partner’s desk in the sitting room belonged to Merle Norman and her husband in Los
Angeles. New furnishings by Sunset Interiors & Design Studio.

meaning "spring at the foot of a black mountain." Luxurious black leather, native influenced
woven fabrics and artifacts subtly reinforce our diverse southwestern history. The pristine
1950’s tile in black and maroon, and the wood-beamed shower ceiling, create a vintage one
of a kind experience. Furnishings by Sunset Interiors & Design Studio.

accessories reflect southern Arizona’s western heritage. The classic 1950’s tile in blue and
yellow, and original wood-beamed shower ceiling, create a one of a kind Rancho Merlita
experience. Furnishings by Sunset Interiors & Design Studio.
