Nestled among the spruce and birch trees on the banks of the spectacular Upper Kenai River the
Upper Kenai River Inn awaits you. Located near the center of Cooper Landing at Mile Post 48.6 or
18116 Sterling Highway (a beautiful two hour drive south of Anchorage). We offer you comfortable
rooms with private in room baths and your own personal deck overlooking the river. The perfect
spot to relax and commune with nature.
The access to activities is as unlimited as your imagination. Fish, hike, bike, raft, birdwatch,
photograph, sketch, paint, horseback ride or just sit back and watch the world drift by on the
mighty Upper Kenai River current.
The Upper Kenai River Inn was constructed in 2000. It is a dream of James and Peggy Givens. It
is an eclectic mix of very diverse personalities and fifty plus years of marriage. The glue that
melds it together and makes it work is a deep love for nature and each other. James and Peggy
will pamper you with a full breakfast served at 8:00 AM each morning.
Bring your binoculars and watch wildlife from our decks which can include dall sheep, moose,
wolverines, wolves, coyotes, brown and black bears, mountain goats, beavers, migrating salmon,
bald and golden eagles, trumpeter swans, loons, mallards, golden eyes, merganzers,
harlequins, redheads, buffelheads, and any number of song birds. All winter, eagles patrol the
river looking for silver salmon. As many as a dozen eagles have been seen at one time from our
decks. In the fall as many as thirty-three migrating trumpeter swans have been seen on the river
in front of the house.

Accommodation:
Each of our four rooms and our suite are uniquely decorated in the Alaskan theme. Our Birch
Room has a hand made bed built of birch that was cut on our property. The Bear Room features a
hand made spruce bed. The Iditarod Room has a map of the courses run during the “Last Great
Race” and a real honest to gosh dog sled. The Alaska Room has an Alaskan Animal theme. Look
for eagles, moose, bear, wolves, and killer whales. The suite has two rooms with mini-kitchen
and private bath. All the rooms have private baths and decks.
Each room is decorated with original paintings and each bath has hand painted tiles. (The Artist
usually has a few paintings for sale.) Each room has a king or queen sized bed and a couch or
day bed, a VCR playing TV for viewing movies. We provide an extensive video collection. From
every room you can view the Mountains and the Kenai River. Some of the rooms are connecting
which can accommodate for larger parties who need more than one room.
Rates&Polices:
The daily room rate is the same amount for all four rooms. The rates are $200.00 for the time
period from May 1 through September 30 and $150.00 for October 1 through April 30. These rates
are based on one or two people and a $50.00 charge will be added for each additional person
(maximum of 4 people per room). A three per cent sales tax will be added to the total bill.
The suite rate is $300.00 per night for one or two people and a $50.00 charge will be added for
each additional person, plus sales tax.
There is a 2 night minimum stay in June and July.
The daily rates cover your lodging and breakfast.
PAYMENT POLICY
Only cash, money orders, traveler checks or personal checks will be accepted.
RESERVATION POLICY
A deposit of 50% is required to confirm your reservation and payment of the balance is due at
check-in time.
Please send your deposit payment by check or money order payable to the Upper Kenai River Inn,
P.O. Box 838, Cooper Landing, AK 99572. Credit cards are not accepted.
CANCELLATION POLICY
90% of deposits will be returned for any cancellation up to 14 days prior to
your reservation arrival date.
SMOKING POLICY
The inside of our home is non-smoking. Smoking is permitted in our yard and on the decks with
respect for others. The suite is only available to non-smokers.
COOKING POLICY
No cooking or coffee pots are allowed in our rooms or on the decks. Only light microwave cooking
is allowed in the suite.
PET POLICY
No pets.
TIMING POLICY
Breakfast is served at 8:00AM
The kitchen closes at 9:00AM.
Check Out Time is 11:00AM
Check In Time is 3:00 to 10:00PM
We close each night at 10:00PM. Late arrivals must be arranged in advance.
